Tucson, AZ, especially Mt. Lemmon.
But I there are many other 'favorites' including many places I have yet to even try!
Favorite biking story:
Well, as with the other questions, there are so many answers. I think of
my 'epic' rides ... centuries, mountain passes, severe weather
conditions. And then there are the fun rides ... TOAGY, the Late Ride,
and leisurely club rides -- plus the scenic rides.
But let me stop
right now and just tell you one funny story. Kevin Bailey (an NBC member
and also my beloved boyfriend) decided we wanted to do 'Bike New York' a
bike tour of NYC attended by 40,000 people or so. We did not want to
pack and ship our bikes for just a one day ride, so we found a bike
rental store in Upper Manhattan, and took the subway to get there, with
the intention of riding our rental bikes back to our hotel.
I was familiar enough with NYC to plan the route, but what I did not realize
was that route would take us directly through Times Square. As luck
would have it, we hit Times Square at rush hour on a Friday. And what a
'rush' it was -- Kevin and I on our rental bikes, inexperienced at riding
in urban traffic, cars, taxis, buses, honking horns, music, street
vendors, huge multimedia LEDS and video feeds. Welcome to New York
City! It is amazing we ever made it back to the hotel!
Biggest biking achievement:
Completing the 112 miles of the IM Wisconsin course, after swimming 2.4 miles and
then getting off the bike to run a marathon and cross the finish line with time to spare.
List 3 things the club may not know about you!
- I spent my childhood years in Sydeny, Australia.
- I was married many years ago to a guy who did not ride bikes.
(Can you imagine?!)
- I'm going to try to do another Ironman again this year.
